ELECTRONIC VOLUME CORRECTOR
WHAT IS AN ELECTRONIC VOLUME CORRECTOR (CORRECTOR) (WHAT IS EVC?)
One of the most important difficulties in gas measurement is that the gas volume changes depending on the properties of the gas and the ambient conditions. We face this problem especially in the measurement of natural gas, which is widely used today. Different devices and techniques are used to clearly determine the volume of natural gas and its energy equivalent.electronic_volume_corrector Sometimes only the change in the volume of natural gas under pressure, sometimes the temperature-dependent change is corrected with different techniques. The main thing is to identify all significant volume differences and determine the energy equivalent of natural gas. This is where electronic volume correction devices (Correctors) come into play.
In natural gas measurement, volume changes due to three factors are taken into account.
- Pressure (P),
- Temperature (T)
- Compressibility factor (Z).
Hatırlayacağınız üzere ideal gaz denklemi;
- P x V = Z x n x R x T
variables are defined.
ELECTRONIC VOLUME CORRECTOR (CORRECTOR) WORKING PRINCIPLE
Electronic volume correctors (Correctors) work together with a mechanical meter connected to the natural gas line. There are different input and output points on the device and there is a low frequency (LF) or high frequency (HF) supply from the mechanical meter in order to perform the main job of volume correction. In addition, there is at least one temperature and pressure sensor or transmitter installed on the measured line. In addition, gas composition input must be made by the operator in order to calculate the Z factor. Using this information, the device can make calculations in accordance with the formulas defined in international standards (ASME, ISO, etc.).
