TURBINE GAS METER
Turbine type gas meter (Turbine Meter) is one of the measuring instruments used in gas measurement and is named after its propellers, which are used as the main measuring element and have a shape resembling a turbine. These specially manufactured turbines measure the speed of the gas thanks to the angled structure of their propellers. With subsequent calibration, the total flow rate is displayed on the index.
Turbine meters turbine-gas-meter (Turbine Meter) are widely used in gas measurements of medium and large-scale industrial plants, city distribution networks, power generation plants. The narrow measurement range (1:20 – 1:30) prevents them from being used for gas measurement of plants with large differences between the maximum consumption value and the minimum consumption value. In addition, due to the inertia of the propeller during operation, it is not suitable for gas measurement of plants that frequently stop and suddenly start up again. Turbine meters are not as sensitive to impurities in the network as rotary type meters, but since such impurities can damage the impellers, good filtering of the network is important for measurement accuracy.
Maintenance and service operations of turbine meters are of great importance for continuous measurement at the expected accuracy values. Lubrication should be done with the oils specified by the manufacturers at the periods specified by the manufacturers. In addition, measurement losses can be taken under control by repeating the legally mandatory periodic calibration process more frequently.
