WHAT IS GAS CHROMATOGRAPHY?

Gas Chromatograph is a device used in the analysis of gas mixtures and determines the gas composition by comparing the sample gas taken from the gas lines with the calibration gases connected to the system. In some cases, this device is used to determine the ratio of a single gas in the line, but sometimes it is used to analyze the entire mixture.

Gas chromatographs are also used in natural gas lines to determine the energy equivalent of the gas. As it is known, methane gas constitutes the majority of natural gas. In addition, sulfur, nitrogen and water vapor are also present, and the caloric value decreases as the amount of other gases increases in the gas mixture. For this reason, gas chromatograph devices are used in our country’s natural gas distribution network, especially at high consumption points (City Natural Gas Measurement Stations and high capacity Pressure Reduction and Measurement Stations (RMS A)).
